What's New in Overbrook Gardens

2010 Annual Member Picnic
The annual Overbrook Gardens Spring picnic for Association members will be held again this year at Lemon Bay park on Saturday, March 20, 2010.  Click here for more information.

Security Patrol
The new crime prevention deputy that has recently been assigned to our area spoke to the Board at the January 2010 Directors meeting.   Burglaries and break-ins are increasing in this area.  He was very definite about the importance of  neighborhood security patrols in reducing these crimes.   Our Security Patrol is faltering and needs more day and night time volunteers immediately.  Please call Linda Masters, 941-474-3701, to volunteer and set up a schedule that is easy for you to do.  Training will be offered if you are new to the Patrol.  The Deputy also encouraged us to use the NON EMERGENCY phone number, 316-1201, to report any troublesome or suspicious activity noted in the neighborhood including "solicitors" that may be something more.

Maintenance

The maintenance committee has been working hard maintaining our eight Association properties.   As a part of the mangrove restoration work required by the State on Lot 12 a contractor was hired to remove the 15 Australian pines at the east end of the shoreline.

We are very appreciative of the volunteers who work throughout the year in a variety of activities to keep our Association functioning and our community looking good.  If you are able to help out with the ground maintenance please contact Harvey White , 475-5725.

Rebuilding is Complete

Kimberly Shortt, Vice President, Kimco Construction of Englewood, celebrates completion of the north entry wall rebuilding with Harvey White, our association Maintenance Chairman.  This was a multiphased project including inspection of the foundation, debris removal, reinforced block laying, stucco work, painting, recreation of the lettering and sailboat graphic, electrical wiring and lights, sprinkler repairs, and landscaping.  The south wall was also repainted.  The marquee has been moved to the south wall for better visibility by motorists.  All within budget and on schedule, including permitting!  Click here for the Kimco website.

Christmas Party

Our annual Christmas party for Association residents and their guests was a great success again this year at the Boca Royale Golf and Country Club.  The weather was wonderful; the food was excellent and plentiful; the door prizes, raffles, and 50/50 drawing were fun and profitable (for some); and the service was great.  Click here for impromptu photos taken by the Hooleys throughout the evening.  If you missed it we hope you can make it next year.  It is one of our best times for our neighbors to get to know each other and to renew friendships.  This party featured, for the first time, live dinner music which enhanced our enjoyment of the food and friendship.
