Sarasota County Property Standards Requirements

  • Keep property mowed below 12" at all times.
  • Keep property free of yard waste, junk, debris, and garbage.
  • Keep vehicles operable and currently licensed.  Inoperable or unlicensed vehicles must be in a completely enclosed building or removed from the property.
  • Do not park commercial vehicles over 6,000 lbs., empty vehicle weight, in residential areas.
  • Only two (2) recreational vehicles per property. (Boats, travel trailers, motor homes, etc.)
  • Living in motor homes, R.V.'s,  and campers with utilities connected is prohibited in residential areas.
  • Operating a business from a residential garage or outbuilding is prohibited.
  • Apply fertilizer in accordance with the new ordinance coming into effect 6/1/08.  Click here for more info.
  • No vegetative debris deposited in storm drains, ditches, water bodies, or roadways.  Click here for more info.
  • Report illegal dumping to the Sheriff's Dept., 361-1201.  (Get a tag number and vehicle description if possible and report immediately.)
