The Treasurers Report was given by Bob O'Brien.  He went over expenses for January, and had copies of the 2010 expenses and the proposed budget for 2011 (see attached).  Bev Williams made a motion to approve the report, seconded by Bev Rienks, and the motion passed.

Committee Reports

Security Patrol: Chair Maria Hallabrin held a training meeting on 2-2-11.  Eight more people were certified.  She stressed the need for more volunteers who serve two hours every other month.  All volunteers are given a bright green shirt.  She then introduced Deputy Blaine Hill who praised our patrol, a deterrent to crime in our community.  Lock your homes and cars.  The items taken most often are GPS's and golf clubs.  The deputy then took questions from the crowd.  Website: sarasotasheriff.org .  Non-emergency #: 316-1201

Wall Project: The committee (Steve Walmsley, Harvey White, Sandi & Dave Fedder, Paula Culliston and Shawn &, Lynn Frost) sent packets out to all property owners on 776 granting approval (16-yes, 1-no).  Kim Boyle and Steve met with an attorney to discuss having a contract with each owner.  He advised against it, and suggested we obtain an easement to allow us to build on private property.  The Association would maintain the wall and add it to our insurance.  The total cost would be $125,000.  There would be an additional cost of $2,500 for obtaining the easement ($150 per property owner for title search and $150 per owner to have the deed processed.).  It is estimated that it will take two years to raise the money.  There was a majority (of show of hands) to pursue the easement.  Steve then answered questions from the audience.

Social: Linda Baillergeon said there were 112 at the spring picnic and 80 at the Christmas Party in 2010.  This year's spring picnic will be held on March 26.  Linda resigned as chair. Kim thanked her for her service, and announced that Marty Wheeler would be organizing the picnic.

Maintenance: Harvey White stated that he has a crew of 12-13 with two master gardeners.  Volunteers are needed to work with the crew on Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:00. The cost for mowing the common properties was $6,000 and $500 for landscaping, maintenance and painting.

Community Affairs: Jack Rienks has been talking with Christine Robinson, the new commissioner about sidewalks for Overbrook Road.  Due to the economy, it will be several years before that will happen.

Membership: Bob O'Brien reported that we have 229 members, and the second dues notice has been sent out.

Code Enforcement: Kim Boyle stated that he has handled some problems, and referred others to the County.

Delivery: No report

Boat Ramp: Call Jim Keenan to get new keys for the boat ramp.

Directory: Paula Cullison hopes to have the new directory delivered the first week of March.  There was a suggestion from the audience to have an update of new home owners on the web site.

Welcome Baskets: Over the last four years, we have delivered 62 baskets to new homeowners.

Old Business: None

New Business: Kim suggested building a 10 x 20 slab near the boat ramp for chairs or picnic tables.  This will all be done with volunteer labor.  Glen Murphy made a motion to proceed, seconded by David Ferguson. The motion passed.

President Kim Boyle wants to start an Advisory Committee made up of professional people to help the Board, and asked for volunteers.

The 50/50 raffle of $56 was won by Frank Boyce.
